Case Study

RAF – Bomber Command Memorial

BACKGROUND

Bomber Command veterans were joined by the Duke of Gloucester and President of the Heritage Foundation, Robin Gibb, to lay the foundation stone for the Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park, London. The memorial, which commemorates the 55,573 crew of Bomber Command killed in World War II, urgently needed public donations to ensure its completion and upkeep.

OUR THINKING

In addition to inviting crews down to the ceremony, B-Roll footage was produced to further amplify coverage across regional and national television broadcasters unable to attend the poignant event.

RESULTS

ON secured over 30 pieces of coverage across Radio and Television – including arranging one of the last interviews with Bee Gees legend Robin Gibb on BBC Breakfast. The service ended with a spectacular flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster bomber aircraft which was broadcast live on the ITV National News lunchtime bulletin.
